About us - The UNHINGED™ Story

At 59, I found myself single - thanks to life's curveballs - living with my elderly Mom on a cul-de-sac aka The Circle.  The Monday before my step-daughter’s wedding, I was fired without being told I was fired. That Sunday, I walked my step-daughter down the aisle to her life as a wife, then watched her take her journey to that new life in another state.

UNHINGED began as an afternoon idea scribbled on a stack of cocktail napkins at a local dive bar - double Grey Goose in hand and frustration in the air. After a season of career roadblocks, betrayal, & heartbreak, I built a brand in a bar.

Family legacy had always been preached, but none was left. I decided to build something bigger - something that is legacy. In less than 30 days, UNHINGED came  to life mostly at the bar, but some mornings in Mom's guest room turned into an office, and late nights sketching designs while my senior dog, Easy Money, demanded bedtime.

On September 25, 2025, I flew halfway cross country, wearing an UNHINGED tee, and the entire business plan, legal documents, and every shirt in the Liars Collection in my carry on bag, which I handed to my step daughter with a launch date of September 30, a very special birthday, in mind.

UNHINGED is the fire born from pain, the laugh in the face of control, and the nudge survivors need to walk out the door. Every purchase gives back: a percentage of every sales supports organizations helping survivors of domestic violence, turning fear into a future filled with possibility.

For every survivor, UNHINGED is a reminder that freedom is possible.
